It’s my favourite time of year! Well, it’s almost my favourite time of year…. So it’s a good time to write this!
What to Wear to your Christmas Mini
I am already in full-blown Christmas mode at the studio and wanted to send some tips for your upcoming Holiday Sessions. My photography studio is located in Port Coquitlam and I specialize in newborns, maternity, baby and family portraits. Holiday mini-sessions bring me so much joy. I get to see how much my favourite little clients have changed over the years. And it is so nice to see that these families continue to choose me to capture some of the most magical moments of the year for them. Such an honour.
For this post, I’m not going to get into full-blown details of this year’s sessions as it will make it a bit long. But I will be going over backdrop details and outfit inspiration. I will also be doing a separate post on Santa Session outfit suggestions.
If you are here looking to book a session. They might be full at the time you are seeing this. I do have waitlists turned on if we can add additional dates later on you will be notified.
Current Sessions can be found HERE
Our Family/children event without Santa has the option of 3 backdrops. It is recommended that you come dressed for the one you love the most and if time permits you can have one outfit change for either both of the others or one. I typically suggest doing two backdrops if children are cooperating. It makes the experience a bit better and not so rushed trying to fit in all 3. All 3 setups can fit family poses which is nice.
Last quick note to a common question: Does the studio provide a wardrobe? I do have a variety of little girls dresses but honestly, it is quite hard to come in and go through items to choose something to wear during a 15-minute session. It’s recommended you bring your own items.
Please Note. This session blog is for our 2023 sessions which have passed. But we do still have space for 2024. Make sure you fill out the contact form on the home page if you are looking for a Vancouver Photographer to capture this year’s holiday sessions.
Setup one is a beautiful frosty forest setup with hanging snowflakes that provide a special touch. I will link some outfit ideas below but my suggestion is blues, greys, creams, and white. Feel free to dress for the outdoors with winter hats and nice boots. Keep in mind that these items should match the attire.
Make the best memories of cuddling in bed with your family. This set is a client favourite and I am so excited to get families in the studio with this one. These colours are so versatile. Red and white stripes, solid red, red and white mix and match or solid white/creams are just a few suggestions. This would also photograph well with golden brown tones. PJs are recommended but not necessary. Dressy clothes would look cute too. The red pyjamas in the photo can be found HERE they are from Kyte Baby and the colour is Cardinal.
How fun is this one?! And so versatile. You can wear what you choose for the bed set up in this. It is styled more for children. It’s important to think about footwear when planning your outfits. Try not to have anything with large emblems or characters that will distract from the rest of you. Red/white, creams, white, red and solid white are all great ideas. For little boys, something as simple as khaki pants and a white shirt or jeans would be totally fine! This dress is from Only Little Once but it is no longer on the site. They have so many cute things that would be perfect for these sets though.
