So, you want to lose a few pounds first….. Jenn. G. Photography – Coquitlam Photographer

Is this not the most heard statement from moms by photographers all over the world?! And I feel this. I completely understand that looking at your thirty something year old body can often feel so different than looking at your twenty something body. That it’s hard to get used to the person you see in the mirror every day. And honestly this feeling can be present whether you are 210 LBS OR 125. They are different people. How much growing and progress have you made in your life in the last 10 years? How many battles have you overcome?

I’m not saying you’re not going to do it. I’m not saying that you won’t succeed in shedding your desired 20 lbs or that you won’t wake up one morning and decide to love your body. I have every bit of faith in you that you will. You will love yourself just the way you are. But what about now? Or the last two years? When you look around and don’t see any photos of yourself with your kids or even on your own?

What about the last few months? Gosh, time passes so quickly and we can lose track of the “oh in a few more months”. Before you know it kids are left with very few moments captured with the women that they love most in the world. Am I trying to scare you to book a professional photo shoot with me? No. Lol (but I mean, if you want to….)

I’m just saying that those words need to stop. You need to stop putting snapshots a side and just take the damn photo. You need to stop looking at the photos with you in it feeling “ugh”. You need to love yourself for who you are today. And take even more photos tomorrow. Can you book a photo session or take more photos later when you lose the few pounds you’ve been working so hard on. Of course! But that doesn’t mean you can’t also do it today.

I’m saying all this to myself right now as well. It’s something I know I need to work on. I don’t want my kids to see me look at another photo without joy on my face. Because today we are together and I honestly don’t know what life will throw us. I don’t know how many more photos we will get. So I pledge to now take all the flipping photos.

I hope all you wonderful moms celebrate yourselves this Mother’s Day <3
