It’s another year, and about time I write about our 2024 Christmas Sessions. I’m so excited for these!!
This year we decided to forgo the backdrops and create full sets with real props. It’s been a journey (to say the least). But we’ve settled on sets that look amazing and as always focus on creating a fun experience for the kids. I’ll start of by sharing the sets and then going over suggestions on what to where and how to prepare. You can book your session here if you haven’t done so yet.
Let’s get right into it. We will have 3-4 sets this year! The entire studio is being transformed into one big Christmas set for the entire month of November. We’ve done a few trials and they are so beautiful.
Set 1: A cozy table where children will string beads to make little ornaments that they will take home. It is slightly different than shown below. After some testing, we decided to make it a little darker so that the tones will match with a variety of outfits and the background will provide a magical glow. This set will work well for family as well as children on their own. *Edited* We since created a really gorgeous Christmas tree set/entrance and if we find it too similar to this, we might swap this out for a bed setup
Set 2:
Golden Ornaments. If you have had a session with me in the past. You know I love hanging things. It makes the set a bit more dimensional and children love it. So I created a rich, golden set with large and small gold Christmas ornaments hung from the ceiling. This set is great for families and children on their own.
Set 3:
A little winter wonderland. A cute little entry way with trees, snow and lots of little lights for a cute glow. This set is great for family and children only. It would be cute with a little sweater and hat or dress it up.
Set 4: Magical fort. This set is dependent on space once everything is all set up. It brought me so much joy photographing and I can not wait to bring the same joy to others. The kids had so much fun and while I was watching them, I knew that these would be my favorite images. This is designed for children only, and it will also be fun to try to squish the family in there and have a little fort snuggle.
What to wear
These sets are such a variety and they are so flexible. The fort set would be best with whites/creams and pajamas. The other two sets will also look great with whites/creams but would also look great with other colours (gold, red, green) really anything. These samples below are some ideas for colours and tones. All of the outfits are currently available at Zara and H&M
Other great options for outfits are: Vintage Kids clothing (Jupetitpop) Adorable kids pajamas (Only Little Once) and cute family pajamas (amazon Burts Bees)
Do we allow outfit changes?
Yes. During the Christmas sessions (without Santa) we do allow outfit changes. We recommend coming in the outfit that you like most just in case time does not allow for changes.
